Coins for Coal: Bank of America Receives Pressure and Protest for Predatory Conduct

This week a number of local organizations – including Occupy Charlotte, Rainforest Action Network and ActionNC – held a demonstration across from Bank of America off The Plaza and 36th Street. “They are letting people know Bank of America’s predatory practices, both financial and environmentally. They hurt this community,” a private citizen in attendance told me.

This is one of the many demonstrations, protests and events planned for this spring by the Occupy Movement, leading up to May Day and the Democratic National Convention to be held in Charlotte, NC. I spoke with Todd Zimmer a representative of the Rainforest Action Network who expressed environmental concerns and Antoine James of Occupy Charlotte and Luis Rodriguez who represents ActionNC.
