Education in North Carolina is a complex and passionate state issue. School diversity, teacher pay and accountability, curriculum, and affordable post-secondary education are just some of the topics discussed and argued within our communities.
Most recently, North Carolinians have been concerned about HB 944, which proposes siphoning funding from public schools and diverting it to a school voucher system. Additionally, the proposed Senate budget was released which aims to increase the number of students possible in an elementary classroom.
If there's one issue where public participation, especially from parents, can make a difference, it's education. Fair and affordable public education is a cornerstone of American democracy, and in order to remain competitive, North Carolinians must fight for every child's chance to excel.
