Join us Saturday, August 26th at the American Tobacco Durham, NC for the Women’s Equality March from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm! We will celebrate the victories for equality that women have won and rededicated ourselves to eliminating all discrimination against women. This year’s theme is “WE RISE NOW!.”

Participants will gather at 9:30 am at the Durham County Register of Deeds Ofice on 414 E Main St and march to the American Tobacco Campus on Blackwell St to enjoy a terrific rally, excellent speakers, performance artists, skits, and live music bands,

In conjunction with this event, you're also invited to attend a press conference August 24th at 10 am at CCB Plaza Downtown Durham andWomen's Empowerment meeting and training scheduled August 25th at the Mission Post at 6 pm. More information will be released soon.

“Women’s Equality Day” commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920, which legally assured the right to vote for all American women--white and black. However, state laws and racial intimidation at the polls--especially in the South-- would would continue to disenfranchise the vote of black women until the Voting Rights Act in 1965.

"Women's Equality Day" has been celebrated since a Presidential Proclamation in 1973 following a bill introduced by Congresswoman Bella Abzug. We will recognize our victories at the march and rally on Saturday, August 26th even as we join forces to push forward against all discrimination against women.
