Fed Up Campaign Planning Meeting

Just 19 powerful bankers from the Federal Reserve decide how many of us are UNEMPLOYED and how many of us can get JOBS. Who are they? How do they make their decisions? HOW CAN WE MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD?

Fed Up is a national campaign to keep the Fed from raising interest rates, killing jobs and sinking working-class families just when they're starting to bounce back.  We'll do this by attracting public attention and putting pressure on Fed Board members, opening the Boards to be more democratic, and getting representatives of the people on them to replace those who only care about the banks.  One lesson we all learned from the Great Recession is, when the banks have total control, working-class folks always lose.

Join us for an informational and planning meeting to discuss this campaign. At this meeting we will discuss:

Why Should I Care about the Federal Reserve?

  • Why is the Fed important?
  • How does the Fed affect the economy?
  • How is the Fed set up?
  • What are we going to do?

Our partners from Center for Popular Democracy will join us to train us on the campaign and to help us start the conversation about how we organize this campaign locally and for our region (Richmond Branch of the Federal Reserve). This campaign has lots of intersection with the work already being done around Jobs, Raising Wages, Paid Sick Days, Fair Work Weeks, Housing, Economic Justice, and Bank Accountability.

Food will be provided. Please RSVP so we can better know how much food to have on hand!
